• Estimated new malaria cases per 1,000 population at risk per year. The denominator is people living in areas with malaria transmission, not the whole national population.
• The exact WHO incidence definition identifies supplied bracketed ranges as 95% uncertainty intervals. This applies only to this incidence series; missing endpoints stay absent and no uncertainty level is borrowed for malaria deaths.
• Positive estimates can have publisher display 0. Preserve original numeric precision and genuine source zeros separately; a rounded display is not a less-than threshold or an exact zero.
