Each figure is the latest available for that country, so rows can refer to different years; compare years before comparing values. n/a means the source has no figure for that country in that column. Values are rounded for display; the CSV download has full precision.
Fiji is left out: its reported figure rose from 111.7 per 100 people in 2022 to 361.0 in 2023 and 574.2 in 2024, a break in how subscriptions were counted rather than a real change. The World Bank's published figure is unchanged in its data.
No figure: American Samoa, Channel Islands, Fiji, Guam, Isle of Man, Northern Mariana Islands, Saint Martin, Turks and Caicos Islands.

About mobile phone subscriptions
Subscriptions count SIM cards, not people. Many people carry two phones or a second SIM for work, travel or cheaper calls, so a country can have more than 100 subscriptions per 100 people, and the figure says nothing about how many people have no phone at all.
The figures come from the International Telecommunication Union, which collects them from national regulators and operators, published by the World Bank. Machine-to-machine SIMs, such as those in cars and meters, are excluded where operators report them separately.
About these figures
Definition. Mobile cellular telephone subscriptions are subscriptions to a public mobile telephone service that provide access to the PSTN using cellular technology. The indicator includes (and is split into) the number of postpaid subscriptions, and the number of active prepaid accounts (i.e. that have been used during the last three months). The indicator applies to all mobile cellular subscriptions that offer voice communications. It excludes subscriptions via data cards or USB modems, subscriptions to public mobile data services, private trunked mobile radio, telepoint, radio paging and telemetry services. (The publisher's definition of “Mobile cellular subscriptions (per 100 people)”, copied from the World Bank (World Development Indicators) on 2026-09-07.)
Unit. per 100 people
Coverage. 209 of 217 countries and territories have a figure. Each country shows its latest available year, from 2021 to 2024. The most common is 2024 (150 of 209 countries).
The median and any other summary on this page count each country once, so they are not world averages. Values are rounded for display; the CSV download has full precision.
The publisher revises past years when it updates the series, so a figure here can change after it first appears.
