Total investment in physical assets — factories, machinery, infrastructure, housing, and inventory changes — as a share of GDP.
Explanation
Also called gross fixed investment. China invests ~42% of GDP, the highest of any major economy. Advanced economies typically invest 20-25%. Investment is the main channel through which savings translate into future growth.
